Playrooms Color Sorting: Hand Collection, Old Saves and the Demo Bug
Understand why collected balls can change color, the limits of bulk tools, and which color-sorting fixes are only claimed for the full version.
Can you sort balls by color in the demo?
Hand selection is the developer-described method, but it has limits. Two Pixels UG says tools other than the hand are unsuitable for this kind of sorting, and the hand must be used without multi-collect. A demo bug can also interfere, so correct collection technique does not guarantee correct colors.
That distinction matters: an upgrade that improves general cleanup may remove the precision you wanted for a color-sorting run. Developer explanation.
Why do blue or red balls become other colors after depositing?
Developers have described two issues at different times. An October 29 reply says older demo saves did not correctly track colors added later. A subsequent reply identifies a batching bug and says it is fixed in the full version. These explanations should not be flattened into “start again and it will definitely work.”
| Developer statement | What it supports |
|---|---|
| Older saves do not track colors properly | Save age can affect the result |
| Bulk collection mixes colors | Collection method matters |
| Batching bug found and fixed in the full version | A claimed full-version fix, not a verified demo fix |
Older-save answer and later batching-bug answer.
What can you check without discarding your progress?
Confirm the current demo update and whether you are using bulk collection. If you want to test the older-save explanation, use an unused slot rather than overwriting a run you want to preserve. Keep the test small: select one color by hand and check what comes out.
The developer suggested a fresh save for the older-save issue. The later batching acknowledgement means it should be treated as a diagnostic test, not a guaranteed cure. See save-slot precautions.
Use the confirmed pool-deposit control when testing. This is not evidence of a hidden per-color limit or a separate sort toggle.
Should you buy collection upgrades for a sorting run?
Read the upgrade descriptions before buying. Multi-collection efficiency and individual color control serve different goals. We have not verified an upgrade refund, a bulk-tool color filter or a safe way to convert an older save’s color data.
